Janet Karvonen became a household name in Minnesota when she led the New York Mills Eagles to three consecutive state championships, scoring more points (3,129) than any boy or girl in state history. A first-team Parade All-American and the National High School Player of the Year, she appeared in two Final Fours for Old Dominion University and Louisiana Tech University. A mother of four, Janet is married to Dr. Alan Montgomery, an orthodontist practicing in Shoreview and Woodbury.
Dave Montgomery, Janet’s son, has been running camps with her since 2003. Dave has coached various levels of basketball over the last fifteen years, most recently as the Head Girls’ Coach at Mounds View High School for six seasons. Dave runs his own business year-round and he is a 2010 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.
KMB’s staff consists of top-notch individuals who all love the game of basketball and are excited to teach it to younger players. All of our coaches are former players, both at the high school and college level, and many currently are involved in coaching at the youth, high school or college level. Campers love our incredible staff summer after summer!
